Bp And Pregnant!!! - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

I am BP and have been diagnosed for only a few years, I was misdiagnosed as just being depressed about 3 years ago. When they diagnosed me as being BP they put me on Abilify. It had a bad side affect at first such as restlessness which resulted in not being able to sleep or sit for more then a few minutes. I felt like i was crawling out of my skin. My doctor put me on Cogentin for the side affects and I had no other problems. Abilify worked wonders for me. But I ran out and wasn't able to get refills for reasons to long to list. I haven't been on meds for about 6 months. I had every intention of getting back on meds but now I'm not sure that I can. I am four months pregnant and I was wodering if there was any safe meds for pregnant women. I would like to research it and any information would be more then useful.

I don't have any relevant experience or knowledge, but wanted to say welcome at least, and congrats on baby! I feel sure somebody on the boards has experience to share, but perhaps the holidays are keeping them busy. You might want to try your questions again later, to have it at the beginning of the strings, and I think it is a very important issue!

For bipolar disorder, I recommend 1,000mg of Cod Liver Oil daily in gelcap form, (or fish oils) , Progest Cream by Emerita twice daily (this is terrific) and Prenatal Vitamins which contain Folic Acid to prevent birth defects. Rub that Progest into your wrists, next time behind the knees, next on the chest. You should notice a difference in less than 7 days. Good Luck to you and remember: babies turn into pre-teens in the blink of an eye! My bipolar daughter wanted a baby then sort of lost interest when he turned 7. Now he's living with her sister!

Hopefully this will work for me until I can get back my my regular meds. And I'm not mad don't think that I am. But if you're trying to say that I will have this baby and decide not to keep it I really don't think that will happen. I wasn't trying to get pregnant so that being said I didn't want a baby. But that doesn't mean I am going to give this baby up because I didn't want one or because I am BP. I have been a mommy for three years and i'm sure I will love this one just as much as I love my first one.
