I just wanted to welcome you....there are many people here with BP and others like myself seeking support as those who love and care about someone with BP.
The weekends here are rather slow so I just wanted to say a quick hello.
I have heard some that swear they haven't gained any weight on lithium and others who have. I think when it comes to weight gain on the meds, one person can be on it and gain and yet another will not. That is what I see with my daughter who has been on various meds. I know that Lamictal is weight neutral and many say they gained lots on Seroquel which wasn't the case with my daughter at all. So it is variable and I would give the med a chance and see how it works with you.
As far as what is Bipolar feelings and what is "real" that too will vary. I know that my daughter despite the meds is more sensitive to things and finds things annoying and often is bored. I hear that is a common thing and something that often cannot be medicated away.
What are you feeling??? You say that you are tired??? Have you just had a new med change or just started on the Lithium??? From watching my daughter, the tiredness and other symptoms of the meds will wear off after being on them for a few weeks as her body adjusts to them. Could this be the case with you???
Well I just thought I would say hello and share what I know from having a 15 year old daughter with BP.
