Concerned about daughter - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

Hi Guys. It has been a while since I have posted anything, as things have been going well. The pd changed my daughters meds around and now she is hearing voices. She is on abilify, zoloft, and cencerta. The voices she hears are mine and one of my friends. They aren't telling her to hurt herself or anyone else, but she is constantly asking me what I said or if I called her when I hadn't been talking. Since she has started hearing these voices she has told her PSR that she thinks I hate her. I am wordering if the voices are telling her that. I am really worried about this. Have any of you heard voices on these particular meds? I have an appointment with her pd so hopefully this will be fixed. She has never heard voices before. Help!!!

Hi...my daughter was on each of those meds and never really heard voices. But the Con-certa and Zoloft combo does worry me....the Abilify may not be enough to keep things balanced out as a mood stabilizer.

I suggest that you call your pdoc and discuss your concerns by phone. Any change in your daughter while on the meds should be reported. Has there been any adjustment or recent titration (increase up or down) of any of the meds???

The thing is....the imbalance is in the thought processing center & the part of the brain that controls one's emotions. Your daughter may very well be taking some of the things you say or do and process them incorrectly. Distortions and misinterpretation is a big thing with BP even when medicated.

How old is your daughter???

In any case, this is something that you should inform your pdoc about.
