Unhappy sick & tired of being depressed

i'm just so sick and tired of being depressed day in and day out. there are times that i'm in an ok mood but most of the time i feel lousy. this has been going on for years now. isn't there an end. been going to pdoc for a year now, on 100 mg lamictal and 1000 mg depakote.
i used to get a burst of energy in the springtime and i don't seem to get that anymore. i so want to have energy again. i'm tired of feeling this way. i think that i'm bipolar mixed because even though i'm depressed most of the time, i also go out and spend alot of money, and i also get very irritable.
sorry i just needed to vent. I WANT TO FEEL BETTER.

Re: sick & tired of being depressed

Hi Harmony,

You mentioned you have an appointment on Friday with your pdoc. Have you told him that you have been continually depressed all this time? Even if you have, you need to tell him again. I would think your meds need a bit of tweaking...you shouldn't have to feel depressed. My son was still a little depressed and the pdoc added a 3rd mood stabilizer...and it did the trick. He now takes lithium, lamictal and tegretol and has been stable and healthy for 2 years -- and just the usual highs and lows that everyone experiences, no depression any more.

Hi Harmony, you sound exactly like me except I am not on any medications yet. I am so depressed at the moment that it is taking all of my energy to write this. I have been waiting for my gp to make an appt with a pdoc for about 3 weeks now, and I still haven't heard anything...Oh well...I also miss those bursts of energy that used to come with springtime. Hope you feel better soon

Re: sick & tired of being depressed

BPinBama ~ Call back and give him a push. He may have forgotten to make the appointment. Could you call and make it yourself? Don't put it off!

Harmony, it sounds like you are Bipolar 2. It has lots of mixed episodes, and people are frequently depressed most of the time. I just think you need your meds tweaked. Something I read in a book said something I always remember. Too many people are willing to settle for feeling a "little better" when they need to keep pushing for feeling much better. it isn't enough to feel 50% better from the worst you felt. Give each med a chance to work, but then tell the pdoc exactly how you are feeling and how you want to feel better. Tell him you are sick and tired of being depressed and you want to try another med. He's not a mindreader--you have to level with him.

Good luck to both of you. Hope you start feeling better soon. At least winter is almost over. I'm happy about that!!

Re: sick & tired of being depressed

Hi; I also have depression, have had it for over 30 years. I don't think that I am Bp--just depress. But I too am tired of ALWAYS feeling like that. Sometimes better, even happy for "short bursts". But usually, critical, pessimistic, no energy, and just can't be bothered with anything. I was on antidepressants, but stopped because of the side effects,(sexual, and a lump in my throat) I have been on paxil, wellbutrin and another that I don't remember it's name. But I had them on each one. What do you do then? Thanks.
