Manipulation, Lies when manic - when do they end?

Hi All,

Just a question about manipulation and lies when manic. I understand that reasoning and emotions are affected by the imbalance in the brain. I am wondering when the lies, and all the manipulation will end...at the end of mania? Or do these still continue into depression?
What about if you have manipulated so many people, yet your "previous person" would never do the things they are doing now. How does a bp deal with this? Do you come clean, fess up, or keep the story going..now that you are committed to it...and what if it is currently a legal matter that you cannot win, because your perception is not what legal contracts say...what then?
Thanks everyone for reading - I have been reading all posts, just keeping a low profile at the moment. I will be catching up over the w/end.

Re: Manipulation, Lies when manic - when do they end?

Hi Suddenlyhere,

well, this is a difficult one. Lies or dellusion (because sometimes the BP doesn't actually see it as lies THEY ACTUALLY BELIEVE so they are deluded) do stop when you're not manic. Depression also leads to delusion, but of a different sort. You believe you are worthless, no future, no present, everything in the world is bad. So taking meds hopefully stops this. In your case if you are aware that there is a legal battle which will cost money and personal emotional trauma, are you in a position to stop this process? You must do what you can to avoid Contempt liability etc.

Is this your partner you speak of?

Juliet

Re: Manipulation, Lies when manic - when do they end?

Hi Juliet,

Thanks so much for your response. Yes, it is my xpartner, who doesnt want to resolve this, has a new partner, and is making my life hell. I am aware this is not him, however he is very convincing to everyone else. Excuse my ignorance, but what is contempt liability. I have gone down the legal approach, as it appears to be the only option for me. I am v.concerned about when he comes out of mania (it has been 4 months...how much longer can it go for!!) as he has done horrendous things and lost credibility, freinds, money, relationships, etc in this past episode.

I have been trying to hold off, but he has not been paying any funds towards the home, and I cant access my funds to operate my business...and now he is trying to go after all my assets, and is lying on legal documents everywhere (when he knows that I have legal contracts to prove these things)

I have been trying to hold off - but everyone keeps saying...how long...what happens if he never comes out... I guess I just wonder, will he ever acknowlege the damage, lies etc even after he is out of mania.

Thank you Juliet - cross your fingers for this situation to be resolved in the best way for all concerned.

Re: Manipulation, Lies when manic - when do they end?

Hi there,

well that's sort of a relief - you are not falsifying documents, you are struggling financially and emotionally. It will all come out in the wash, unfortunately for him he can be held in contempt of court, prosecuted for perjury and fraud if he is truly lying and falsifying document. If i were you (i am BP) i would seek legal advice and try to ignore your feelings for him - which you clearly still have otherwise you would not be worrying about this.

Good luck

x

Re: Manipulation, Lies when manic - when do they end?

Hi Juliet,

Thanks for your advice - I have sought legal advice, and he is still lying! I have feelings for the old person - the person I have spent 10 years with, not the one that is trying to destroy me. I understand that I can still care about a person, and not be with them. I cannot go back. I am just waiting for him to tire playing with me - its all a big game to him.
Thanks for your advice, hope all is well at your end of the thread!
