Hello sharonamy,
Nice to hear from you. I agree wth Jules. Tell the pdoc exactly how you feel--try to structure the comments in a time frame and say how it affects your daily activities. Remember that hypomania or mania can present in many ways other than what we typically think of us feelings of euphoria or grandiose thinking. Irritability, agitation, intense anger or rage, racing thoughts, rapid speech and disorganized thought are all symptoms as well. You are right that it is usually a good idea to say "this is what's going on; this is how it's impacting my life," and then let the professional draw conclusions. If you see any pattern, like feeling depressed in Fall and super energetic in spring, or something along that line that would show distinct changes in mood, be sure to mention that, too.
Good luck to you. Please come back and let us know how the appointment went!!
