hello!

not knowing the whole story, i did want to say that when some people are ill, it is really hard to keep up friendships.

i don't think she would want to lose you as a friend. just that, like she said, she can't handle the pressure.

maybe give her some time and call her in the next week or two.

just don't give up. wait until she feels better at the least to find out how she truly feels. bipolar can make a person say hateful things when they are not well.

most likely she will be appreciative after she comes out of this bad time and realizes that she didn't blow it with her best friend. she will need you at this time.

you could always send her a card telling her that you will always be there no matter what and that she can call anytime she wants.

even if you do not get a response right away, give her some space and then maybe call her in 2 weeks? 3 weeks? it takes time so be patient.
if she doesn't answer, go to her house. but, only after giving her some space.

you know it is her illness speaking and not her.

I have a best friend of twenty years who I have hurt repeatedly because of my Bipolar. I was diagnosed 10 months ago. The reason he is still my best friend is because he understands that when I am like that it is not me. I do apologize but he says " I accept you for who you are and understand that when you are like that you really don't mean it." He is my biggest supporter through all this. And don't know how I would have made it through a lot of things without him.

Best friends are hard enough to come by and harder to keep when you are Bipolar. It's times when a person is down when they realize who the true friends are and you sound like a true friend or else you wouldn't be asking for help with this. Be patient, give her some time and let her know you are there for her when she needs you. It could make all the difference in the world.
