Unhappy My 17 year old son was arrested tonight

I am exhausted! He is charged with a misdemeanor of "battery". Just got him out of Juve...What the hell, I am turning into "Luckygem on Jerry Springer", Ugh! He was cruising with two friends and the driver did nothing, one passenger (my son's good friend) threw a red bull can at a pedestrian and hit the man in the neck, my son (passenger #2) threw a plastic gatorade bottle but didn't hit anybody. There is suspicion, but not confirmation, that they may have yelled "******"...if that were confirmed, he would be facing a felony for a "hate crime". I am happy it is not confirmed and happy he did not hit the man. The man has no injuries, Thank God!

Anyway, we will have to fight a battery charge, since he threw, but did not hit, and he is honest when pushed to the limit, eyeball to eyeball, as we have been talking all night tonight. Furthermore, I eavesdropped on his cell phone call that he made from his bedrom and he clearly "threw only", no contact was made with the pedestrian. Of course I am not proud of his behavior and will be "raking him over the coals" but I want his record to be as clean as it can be for his future. Thank God, we got these kids off drugs (last summer there was a little MJ problem) as they were both drug tested and came out clean at the juve detention center. Another blessing is that they are both still 17, not 18......whole different world there.

Thank You guys for always letting me come here and vent and giving me your support. This is really scary

Life with my 2 Bipolars, never a dull moment

Luvya,

Luckygem

Re: My 17 year old son was arrested tonight

PS The word that was yelled (that I see is blocked) is a reference to a person's sexual orientaion...I hope this explanation is allowed. This is typical teenage boy stuff but does need to be addressed.

Re: My 17 year old son was arrested tonight

Luckygem,

(((Hugs))) I am glad that the pedestrian is ok. It is horrorifying what kids will do when around their friends. It is like suddenly what they know is right goes out the window sometimes. Hopefully this is a lesson he learns before the eighteenth birthday. It is so great that he has wonderful, loving, and supportive parents.

Eme

Re: My 17 year old son was arrested tonight

Hi Eme, Thanks, But ya know they must have really wounded the spirit of that pedestrian and that bothers me. I am a very sensitive person and take on others problems....that would be my depression problem. But just think how it would feel to have something thrown at you by teenagers, who yelled something, Ugh! It breaks my heart, for all parties. I will indeed inquire about this pedestrians address for a possible face to face apology. My son's friend that threw the can is a good kid (just a teenager thing) and I know his parents would encourage that as well. I am close with his friends parents even thought they live on the other side of town we are all very involved...we just have "High Maintenance" kids

Motherhood is not for cowards
