Ocd? - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

I was diagnosed with bipolar afew years ago, recently i've been showing symptoms of OCD (obsessive compulsive dissorder) so my dr had tried about 10 different anti depressants claiming that they will help, but all each of them did was make me cycle pretty badly, im wondering if anyone else has the ocd problem as well, and what you have tried or are taking for it.. im pretty lost any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!

in case it helps, im on lithium(1200mg),clonazepam(50mg),and seroquel (400mg)

Candy.....

That's an awful lot of clonazepam....you shouldn't be walking around...are you sure it's not 5mg?

Anyway....what are you doing to think you have OCD?

Candy -

I have been DX w/BP and OCD and take Topamax my Pdoc says that it helps with both. it may be worth looking into but for me it is a new pdoc and new meds so not too sure about it yet its only been 4 weeks but so far it seems to be working for the most part but again its only 4 weeks so the full effect has yet to take effect and I have yet to reach the full dosage as well.

You are on an awful lot of clonazepam. I believe that I am on 2 mg a day. I also take 200mg of Seroquel and 200 mg of lamictal. I was diagnosed with BPD a couple of years ago. It was originally diagnosed as depression when I was younger but I had a few breakdowns which earned me further help. I have always had the OCD symptoms which have involved brushing my teeth 10x a day, taking five showers and washing my hands non-stop. A clean freak for say. I do believe that OCD is part of BPD for many out there.
