UUggghh Med Irritation Sucks

The Lamictal has me so freakin keyed up I feel like I'm going to explode. I've been so irritated and aggitated all day today. I have to keep telling myself it's just the meds, it's not me, it will get better....it better get better. I hate this bouncing back and forth, five days ago I was so depressed I could barely get out of bed, and now I'm so keyed up I can barely lay still enough to get in bed, why does it always have to be one extreme or the other. I hate getting used to new meds. I have to check in with my pdoc tomorrow and let him know how I'm feeling....I think I'm definitely going to ask him for something to take the edge off until I get used to this...I can't go around chewing peoples heads off all day. Sorry I'm posting so much whiny crap I just need to vent and blow off some steam, and this is a safer place to do it rather than getting in my hubby's face. I can tell this weekend is just gonna be freakin great! Up then down, up then down...damn I hate this disease.

Re: UUggghh Med Irritation Sucks

Hi Kmit -
Lamictal did that to me too when I first started it. I seriously felt like I was manic. To be honest I'm still quite energetic from it but not as much. I started in January. I have a very hard time sitting still for long and my concetration cuts out after 45 minutes. I won't be able to see my pdoc until July considering I'm in a different country at the moment so I'm just attempting to get by the best I can. It's making school a bit rough but then I have to compare myself now to how I was before and that's a big improvement. So although I feel like I'm only 60% the way there to feeling quasi-normal, at least it's better than before.

Blow off all the steam you want here. I'm in the same boat. ... stress really gets to me. I always try to warn <my boyfriend> when I'm in an anti-social mood where I'm feeling very aggressive. I find random power walks helps get the frustration out. As for chewing heads off, last night I had some aggressive rambling which I won't go into detail. Let's just say I sounded like an extremely violent sociopath!

Re: UUggghh Med Irritation Sucks

Okay last night went just great! I was cleaning out the compter that my hubby though it was such a good idea to put out in the living room, where the boys can work in it whenver totally unsupervised. I know, I know, he's not the world's most smartest man. Well as I'mdeleting history filed I came accross the XXX Videos for Freee, Googleporn, videoporn, and I just lost it! I mean I was already really really ramped up on the Lamictal, so it was like someone just pushed the button that launched mission.

Needleess to say my hubby ended up picking me up and depositing in our bedroom on the bed and said,"stay there and cool off". So it was just a great night! I swear at one point I was laying flat on the bed and I could look down the length of my body and see it vibrating, really wierd. Didn't go in to the office today, just working from home and waiting for Pdoc to call me back.

Re: UUggghh Med Irritation Sucks

Kmit - good idea to ask your pdoc about something that can take the edge off until the lamictal agitation settles down for you. Hopefully it wont last much longer! I know it sometimes seems that you can't win with this disease (either way too down or way too keyed up), but it can get better with the right meds and therapy. I have been doing well for months now and I hope that you will feel the same soon.

Re: UUggghh Med Irritation Sucks

Okay talked to pdoc and he called in some valium to take until the lamictal activation gets better. I also managed to have a semi-calm conversation with my 18 yr old about what's not allowed computer wise in our home, went better than I thought it would. So still irritable but don't feel like ripping anyone's head off. I went out and did some yardwork this afternoon and tried to burn some energy. I'm definitely looking forward to "even" vs. up/down, up/down.
