| Re: medications are important
Hi,
Yes, I have found that meds are the most important thing for me. Therapy can help me accept illness and learn coping skills and life skills, but never did anything for symptoms of bp, anorexia, agoraphobia. I manage them better, but only the meds make my life tolerable and give me the wherewithall to manage the illnesses.
If I had to choose between meds and therapy, no question I would take the meds.
What I find annoying is when a therapist hears about a hypomanic epidode, or something else due to bp, and asks me something like "Well, how to you FEEL about that? What does it remind you of? What trauma in your past is making you feel that way?"
NOw, I answer that "It is just cycling, it's the illness, and often, it has little to do with anything that's going on with me, it's my brain going through its paces."
Good topic, thanks,
Seaturtle
