Bi-polar but no real mania meds? - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

Hey guys if you have been diagnosed with bi-polar but more lows than highs what do you think about the lamictal/seroquel combo? Seroquel sleepy side effect is still no better.Taking lamictal in the mornings. Would love to hear yall's thoughts on this combo.

I hate seroquel. I only have it for when I am sinking into a psychosis and my husband knows to give it to me because I need it. I will not take it by choice. The lamictal is helpful for me. I am on 600 mg. a day (300 am and pm) and it has kept the major lows away for a few months now. It isn't doing wonders right now, but it had been working.

That is what I take, and I mostly had issues with depression. The lamictal has literally saved my life. The seroquel is more recent for me, but seems to be clearing up my sleep problems, and as a bonus has put an end to my chronic migraines.

If the combination is working for you, I don't see any reason not to take it. If the seroquel makes you too sleepy, talk to your doctor, there are lots of other choices.

That's what I'm taking along with Zoloft 50mg, and Topomax 100mg, I'm on Seroquel 450mg and Lamictal 50mg. The Seroquel helps me with insomnia as well. I'm having some trouble adjusting to the Lamictal, but am determined to keep going, as so many have had good results against depression with Lamictal.
