Bipolar and menopause? Any BTDT advice?

Hi, i'm a 43yr old married mother of two that has been diagnosed within the past month. Am at the stage where I'm just p*ssed off that I will have to actively deal w/ this disease on a daily basis for the forseeable future.

Have any other women gone through this during "the change"? I'm kind of looking for some experience in what is bipolar vs what is menopause vs what is ok thinking. I know only I can answer that, but I'd love to see some examples of how other ladies have fared.

There's my intro, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!

Re: Bipolar and menopause? Any BTDT advice?

Hi,

I think it's hard to tell which is which. I know that I decided to take hormones during menopause, and I remained a sane woman on them.
(Well, almost, anyway, lol).

For one thing, can you remember what symptoms you had before menopause started? That might give you an idea what's been added or exacerbate by the change.

Hope this might help a tiny bit, and my sympathy for menopause. It will be over, though!

Re: Bipolar and menopause? Any BTDT advice?

My mom's going through menopause hardcore and it's scaring me because she's acting more bipolar than me and she isn't even bipolar. So when I get into the menopause stage, hopefully 30+ years from now, I'll probably be a huge mess.
