Need Support

I was diagnosed last year at the age of 28. I'm trying to get as much info as I can about the illness. Does anyone successfully manage bipolar without medication?

Re: Need Support

Welcome. I do take medication, but have managed to find a balanced set of drugs that are working fantastically without any apparent side effects. I don't know of anyone that sucessfully controlls their bipolar without meds (that doesn't mean there isn't anyone), but I can say emphatically that bipolar doesn't have to control or ruin your life.

Re: Need Support

I've not heard of anyone that can control BP without meds, and I know that it gets worse as you get older. Meds can be controlled by a good Psychatrist and finding a balance is possible.

Re: Need Support

it is very difficult to handle bipolar without meds... so I take a small dose of zyprexa 5mg..... means minimal side afects.
