manic question?

can anxiety be a symthom of the manic state..? Usually it is over spending, acting out sexually, etc... but can it be just high anxiety?

Hi,Caren, I'm no expert, but I believe anxiety is part of the manic state, yes, but according to the approved diagnostic definition, just anxiety alone isn't classified as mania.

Many of use suffer from anxiety from time to time. It may mean you're headed for a mania, but if there are no other symptoms, e.g., hypersexuality, impulsive acts, spending, presure of speech, mind racing, then I'd say no.

But I really don't know, maybe others will.

Did you read the stickies above? They'd give you a better idea than I can.

In any case, I'm sorry you're having the anxiety, and hope you can get some meds to calm yourself down. It may be the first sign of an impending mania for you - have you had it before, noticed any pattern?

Keep a mood chart for your doctor to read and get a better idea of how you are reacting to things..See what your triggers are..Klonopin helped a whole lot with my anixitey and I take a cocktail for my Bipolar Disorder..I`m just now getting on a even keel with life and it`s hurtels it throw my way..Don`t give up talk with your dr. honestly..
