sleepy from geodon???? - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

Hey everyone. To the people who have taken geodon but especially to you guys to have taken with lamictal. Did yall have sleepiness with it. Took one yesterday and got soooo sleepy about 2 hours later. Supposed to take 2x a day but only took one yesterday. I thought I read that most people have jitterness with it not sleepy problems. Some one chime in please. Thanks sooo much!

Hi there,

I was given Geodon when I was inpatient back in 2006 and it made me extremely sleepy. If I remember correctly, the sleepiness gradually disappeared within a week.

If your tiredness is too much for you, I'd call your pdoc and let him/her know. Otherwise if you haven't taken the Geodon for over a week yet, I'd wait and see if the sleepiness improves over the next 7 days.

I have just started geodon also -only 20mg. a day, however. I am one that goes to bed early (8:00) and gets up early. Last night, I was awake until after 11p.m. and then I have trouble getting up in the morning. I am tired early in the day, but then full of energy later on. This is a great feeling for me, however. I just went off of lamictal and I felt tired and lousy all the time.

I just started Geodon, after I finally pitched Abilify. Does the sleepiness go away? My directions are to take it at night for a week, then in the morning and night. 40 mgs, and 40 mgs. If it dosen't subside, there is no way I will be able to take it in the AM. Anybody have expierence with this?
