irony: ive made a few posts addressing the topic of boundaries, something taught to me the first time I was ever in a clinic. the idea that each individual's plight is valid and not to be compared with others. Well, I have a feeling this board and its posters dont understand that concept. Im out of my league. I take Lithium, Klonepan, Seroquel and Paxil. Thats the first time Ive listed my meds and Im doing it to get a response. But it's not enough, huh? My case is not colorful enough. No cutting or hallucinations. ill try and do better. I drank and verbally abused the woman I love. i may have lost her for good. im just going to wade through the pain and sadness. maybe im just a masochist.
yknow ive had an ok time with my meds overall, over many years. im afraid nothing in the outside world is a match for whats going on inside me. i am my own worst enemy in a fashion that sucks the cliche right outta that expression. if i got a brain transplant, my old brain would still gain control and remote control my ***.
I'm sorry you never received any response to your posts, but I haven't seen anything you've written here on the board, so I apologize for not responding.
As far as your meds are concerned, well, I'll list mine: Depakote, Fluoxetine, Geodon and Trazodone. You could also throw in Topamax (which I take for migraines) since it's also considered a mood stabilizer. If you're a massochist, then I suppose I'm a massochist and a half. LOL! My pdoc wants to add a small dose of Lithium as well if my rapid cycling doesn't get under control which means that I would technically be on 4 mood stabilizers (Depakote, Geodon -- a dual antipsychotic/mood stabilizer -- Topamax and Lithium).
Well...at least no one can say that we're not mentally interesting.

Risperdal 1mg titrating to 6mg/day
Klonopin .5mg (2x/day)

P.S. Just for clarification's sake, I'm not trying to compare myself to anyone in terms of the meds I take. I'm just trying to apply a little humor to this thread.

Yeah,I have quite a cocktail,too....Zyprexa,Respirdal,Topama x and Prozac......high doeses of all. Plus prednisone on occasion for COPD and Gemfibr for high colesteral...Sucks bad and very expensive but have been fairly stable for 2 years.
Okay if we're med listing then I guess I can jump in:
Seroquel, Cymbalta, Abilify, Lamictal, Buspar, Clonazapen, Topomax, Vit. D, Biotin and Fish Oil. I also take Oxycontin and Percocet for Chronic Pain and Premarin and Axert and Claritin for other health stuff.
Do I win, do I get a medal?
As for anyone's BP not being as enteresting as anyone elses, who would even judge that. This Demon disease in itself is enough who cares how it manifests itself in ones life, it still sucks and pretty much wrecks everything. You belong here Mr. Wilkey just like the rest of us.
I'd like to add that I take a total of 7 different meds (4 for my bipolar, 2 for migraines and 1 for year round allergies). My pdoc is thinking about adding Lithium as well if I can't get my rapid cycling under control. If I've already mentioned that earlier, sorry. I'm too lazy to check if I did or not. LOL.

Hah! I have 15! The Vit. D is for the SAD and since it's been so hard to get the depression under control, I can't really tell if it's doing anythin or not to tell you the truth.
The reason I asked is because I'm thinking about trying fish oil. I don't know if it will help, but I plan to ask my pdoc about it when I see him next week.

One of my best friends used to take 22 different pills/day. She had alot of health problems which was the reason why she took so many meds. Personally, I can't imagine having to take that many. I'm shocked by the fact that I take 7. LOL.

Geez I didn't know we were talking about toal quatity in a day, that's totally different, for me it would be...let's see...I take a total of 30 pills a day, plus up to 10 advil, depending of knee pain. So on some days I could effectively be taking 40 pills a day! It really sucks big time! LOL
I should clarify. In my last post I meant that I take 7 meds/day. As for the number of pills I take, I really don't know because I've never bothered counting.

Just be careful with the Fish Oil, ummm without going into obvious details for SH/SI patients. Fish Oil can make you more prone to bleeding easily and clotting less.
Yep, between the Fish Oil, the advil I take for my osteoarthritis, and the tylenol that's in the Percocet for the chronic pain, my blood is like water, and it gets me in a lot of trouble in SH/SI situations. So I told my pdoc i'm stopping the fish oil for a while, he had me on a high dose, 3000 mg a day, and I really didn't notice a diff, but mine was as much for dietary reasons as any, he gets irritated with me because I forget to eat so often. Oh well, you just can't make everyone happy can you?
*sigh* you've made me sad, Seriously you don't know anyone else on more BP meds than me???? There has to be someone. This wasn't a contest that I particularly wanted to win! *LOL*
I thought that your Pdoc had put you on the Fish Oil. You have to be really careful adding any meds to your BP regime including vitamins and minerals. Many many meds cross barriers and raise or lower the efficiency of other meds. I would not start any new meds including the Fish Oil until you talked to your Pdoc, even if its just to call and ask.
That's okay. I haven't been completely honest with my pdoc about how much I don't eat. He already knows that I don't eat when I'm manic or depressed, but he doesn't know about all of the episodes I've had over the past 2 weeks. I'm afraid to tell him for fear that he will take me off of the Fluoxetine and the last thing I want to do is be taken off of an anti-depressant since this time of year is so difficult for me. Come May, I'd be willing to drop it since I tend to be hypomanic or manic in the spring/summer and depressed during the autumn/winter. I'm hoping that my move to Arizona will help my moods. My sister doesn't think it will, but I believe otherwise. I can't stand the long, cold winters we have here. The endless string of dark, overcast days makes me feel angry/irritable and depressed.
