| Today's Tdoc Appointment
Hi everyone,
I saw my tdoc today and it was a very productive appointment.
We began by discussing my recent IP stay as well as the difficulties I've been having with my rapid cycling.
I informed him that my pdoc just put me on Clonazepam and that I am now on day 2 without any rapid cycling. He was thrilled to hear that and told me that I looked like I was feeling much better. He is of the opinion that the Clonazepam should help reduce my cycling to once or twice a day which is what the original treatment goal of my pdoc was.
We also discussed my diagnosis of atypical bipolar. He explained that this is a specific type of BPI and falls under its own category just like BPI and BPII. He explained that what makes my bipolar atypical are my auditory hallucinations, delusions and paranoia.
I feel better having discussed this because now I fully understand my diagnosis and what it means. We also discussed other types of bipolar such as cyclothymia, BPI, BPII and BP NOS (not otherwise specified). I was a little confused about BP NOS because I thought atypical was identical, but what separates atypical BP from BP NOS are the fact that I don't have a separate psychotic disorder like schizoaffective, my primary symptoms are due to bipolar and I don't exclusively experience hypomania or mania since I get severely depressed during the autumn and winter months.
Just thought I'd let you know how my appointment went. It feels good to know someone else noticed my mood improving. That's a good sign because it means that this med is really working the way it should.
