How long do you have to be on a med. before it totally stabilizes your moods? I have been on Symbyax for about 2 1/2 months but I still have bad days. I'll go for like a week in a really happy mood and then I dip back down into depression for a few days. Any experiences?

Honestly it depends on the person....and I hate to say this but you may not ever totally stabilize on the med. I've been on Lamictal for a year and it helped me stabilize quite a bit more than I was...but never all the way. If you don't feel like the med is working you might talk to you pdoc about changing it.

This varies from person to person. It took me over a year and a half to become stabilized on Depakote with the addition of an anti-depressant and a benzo to help with my rapid cycling. It seems that once the 2 latter meds were added, it helped make all the difference. Hang in there. If you don't notice improvement in 6-8 weeks, I would notify your pdoc.
