How long it takes for Lamictal to kick in?

Hey Everyone,
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder about 3 months ago (my phychiatrist said I was between type 1 and type 11), and I was put on Lamictal. I started at 25 mg a day, and have been gradually increasing it over the past 3 months. I have been on 200 mg for the past week, and haven't noticed any differnce in my mood. I am still very depressed and unmotivated, finding it hard to look for work, and even getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. I was wondering if this is normal, or if maybe this medication isn't going to work for me.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

You should have noticed a difference by now. I would suggest asking them to try another medication.

Once I got to 200 mg I leveled off nicely. I am still (and always have been) slightly on the depressed side, but I will take depressed over manic any day! My pdoc tells me lamictal is "the best drug out there."
