Seroquel XR

My doctor just prescribed Seroquel XR for me to help me sleep. Anyone have any experiences with it?

Re: Seroquel XR

Works for me! 100mg at bed time gives me about 8 hours. I don't know about the xr though it may take to long to work.

Re: Seroquel XR

I have been on Seroquel XR for 5 years and was prescribed 300mg. per day. I slept most of the day, so I started taking 1-150 mg. a bed time. If I took the prescribed dosage I would not have been able to work. The problem I have encountered is that it acts like a sleeping pill for me. I still feel depressed. sad and angry. My doctor refuses to give me anything else or my depression etc.....So, I take my meds and sleep as often asI can. If my doctor was in my head or 1 day. She would lose her mind.

Re: Seroquel XR

it definitely will make you sleep and gain weight. i have been on and off of it for bipolar 2. it takes me about two weeks to knock the sleepy side effect. I was on 300 mg every night and now dropped down to 150mg. It seems like the higher you take the less it makes you sleepy for some reason, maybe thats will use for bipolar. I definitely would recommend taking it at bed time and make sure you do not have anything to do. I literally was out within 20 minutes and slept for one day straight.

Re: Seroquel XR

I would change doctors if possible. Only you know how your body is reacting to any medication and no one person is the same. Your doctor should be sensitive to that....

Re: Seroquel XR

Hi everyone.

I have been on it too. When I started it was the best sleep I ever had - but keep in mind that it can quickly become a crutch and be used to avoid things.

Ironically - it helped me so much - I got addicted to it - took too much - slept too much - and wound up right back where I started, if not worse.

Doesn't take much to knock you out - even XR had a sleep effect on me.

Wish you the best,
HD7970
