Switching Birth Control - Birth Control Message Board

hello all. i'm currently on ortho tri cyclen but for the last 2 months i've been having bad mood swings and pretty low to extremely high sex drive. so i think it would be best for me to switch to a monophasitic pill. so can anyone here offer any suggestions as to what pill i should switch to. i've been reading up on Aleese, Yasmin, and Ortho-Cyclen, but i dont know what the doasage of those pills are or much else about them. so can anyone help? thanks a bunch.

Alesse is good. But i have noticed that after being on them 1.5 years, i believe my sex drive has gone down hill, to the point where i am rarely in the mood, and i dont like that factor.

thanks for the reply. do you know if the symptoms of taking ortho-tricyclen and taking othro cyclen are the same. i think the reason i'm moody is because ortho-tricyclen is a triphastic pill. do any of you prefer a monophastic pill to a triphastic one?

from what i understand, the monophastic bcp is more for women that have endo or other hormone related problems. The triphastic bcp is closer to the normal hormone cycle we go through monthly. I am on Yasmin bcp right now. I have been on it for three months.I was having problems with my hormone levels. So far my dhea levels have lowered back into the normal range. My doctor wants me to continue taking them for six more months. The first couple of months i had an occasional upset stomach. I haven't gained any weight which was a concern.My period is lighter and the cramps that i was having are gone. Yasmin contains drospirenone which from what i understand is not in other bcps.It is suppose to prevent you from retaining water during your monthly cycle.So far it has worked for me.I hope this was of some help.
