Long term effects of birth control pills ?

Hi, I've been taking OC since 11/01 and stopped for 5 months this year. I wanted to give my body a break . I've just started again this month. When I want to have a baby, will I have problems conceiving ? My gyn reassured me a few months ago that the hormone level is low, I don't even have side effects. I have headache when I' m about to have my period only.. And some other times, but it might be stress or fatigue related. Should I stop taking OC?

i've been told it isn't a problem for necon, which is what i'm on, but i would assume it's the same with OC

Re: Long term effects of birth control pills ?

I asked my GYN that a long time ago and was told that BC now days is so low in hormones that your body is fine even without any breaks, I had been considering going off for a break but was reassured it wasn't neccesary. I got pregnant with my daughter on the second month we tried, I went off it about 4-5 months before we started trying so I was sure it was out of my system, don't worry about it affecting your fertility. It won't, I have seen a post on here about how long it took to get preggo after going off BC and there are SO many women who got pregnant on first and second months. Some women take longer...you actually only have about a 15% chance of getting pregnant in any month, and that's when you are doing everything right. Goodluck

Thanks for replying !

When I've stopped taking OC for 5 months, we didnt' use condoms not even once. So I guess I'm not part of these women who'll get pregnant soon after stopping the pill.

Re: Long term effects of birth control pills ?

necon is like estrostep FE...does that help? i don't have headaches, but i get massive migranes normally, and since i'm on my first pack, i'm worried that they might show up soon but so far i've just been REALLY really hungry. Sad, cause i know friends who've LOST weight on my pill...
