The Pill is 97-99.9% effective. It is effective immediately but to lower the risk of pregnancy condoms should be used while taking the pill. The fact that your boyfriend says there is no point in using a condom is wrong...the pill does not protect against HIV, Aids or any other STD. Now as far as the weight, well yes there are some side affects as far as irregular bleeding or spotting, nausea, breast tenderness, weight gain and mood changes. With the pill your period may even end up being lighter and regular, however like i said it doesn't protect against STD's. Better to be safe than sorry.

Re: about 'THE PILL'!!!

Doctors used to say that the pill is 99.9% effective but I just recently read an article saying that it's more lik 97% effective and maybe even less effective if you are overweight! That aside, like Regina said, the pill doesn't prevent STDs! You should make sure both you and your boyfriend are tested for STDs if you plan to stop using condoms. Your boyfriend probably said there's no point because he doesn't like wearing them. If I were you I'd use one, even that 3% chance of getting pregnant scares me!

You have to make sure you take your pills at the same time everyday to ensure they are effective. The pill is effective within 7 days of taking it so use condoms for that first week for sure!

The pill has different side effects for everyone. Some women gain weight and get bigger boobs while others don't, it all depends on your body.

Re: about 'THE PILL'!!!

The pill IS NOT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATLY!!!!!!!! You have to give it a good month and use condoms between that time. You should use condoms anyway for protection against diseases. I am here to tell you I got pregnant on the pill! So please if your not ready for a baby and have your body change and life change, use a condom as well and wait a good month if your not going to use other protection!

Re: about 'THE PILL'!!!

Hey just one more thing, remember this is YOUR body, its gotta last you a long healthy life. If your bf doesnt want to wear a condom, tell him if he respects you and your wishes he will use one. You never know where someone has been, even if he's the nicest guy in the world he may have hooked up with someone who was not and didnt know it. Your worth so much, remember that and if he wants sex, he's got to go by your wishes. Men dont think like us! If he is willing to not use a condom with you , chances are he hasnt with the people he's been with in the past.
