Trifeme and pain - Birth Control Message Board

Hello all,

I have been on Trifeme for a little under a month now, and at the moment I have my period. The problem is that I still have period pain, when I thought the pill was supposed to stop this? I also have pain in my breasts which I read can be a side effect - how long are the side effects supposed to last?

It can take several months for the benefits of the pill to fully kick in. Also, you may NEVER be pain-free. While the pill has helped my cramps significantly, it hasn't ereased them. Most professionals suggest that you use the pill for at least 3 months to get the full effects.

The pill isn't a "pain medication."

If your pain continues, use ibuprofen for a few days before your period, and during your cycle. This should aleviate some of the pain.
