From depo to BCP... periods - Birth Control Message Board

I switched from depo (after 5 years of use) to BCP four months ago. The first three months, I had a very very light "periods," - mostly brown, and nothing a panty liner couldn't handle. They also started on Saturday and then on Friday.

This month, I started signs on Wed. night with a more normal period Thursday, still on the lighter side, but with blood and "clots." (sorry to be graphic)

I guess my question is how long before my periods return to normal? They say that with BCP you shouldn't get your period on the weekends. Will the start date just continue to move back as my body adjusts? Also, I've had a lot of "clots," including larger ones. Is this just my body cleaning out after not having ovulated for so long?

Basically, if anyone can share experiences or knowledge if you've been through this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sounds normal. Things might never return to the light periods you had before, either. What you are experiencing now might be your regular periods.

Your period day isn't going to gradually move back, either. I don't know who told you that you shouldn't have your period on the weekend-- most women I know (who are Sunday starters) still have their periods when starting the new pack.
