Help! Just started pill...want to stop - Birth Control Message Board

I am a 35yr old non smoker. I am also hypothyroid. I have always had cramps and was on the pill in my early 20's which helped. My cramps have gotten worse. A couple years ago I tried ortho tri-cyclen for 3 days and was so jittery and my heart was racing that I had to stop. I went to a new doctor, who performed blood tests and ultrasound and found low dhea levels, enlarged uterus and ovarian cyst. They started me on desogen. I have been taking since Sunday. I am jittery, nauseaus, my left leg, foot and hand keeps tingling, and now my left breast which has fibroids is tender.

My question is, can I stop after only 4 days. Also, any additional suggestions would be great.

You can stop whenever but you may have abnormal periods for a while after.

You should look into another form of BC. The pill isn't good for women your age. The risks of stroke and heart attack increase as you get older. I'd look into the IUD or a diaphram if I were you. Why take the risk when there are other options available?

I'm 43 and a gynecologist just prescribed Ortho Tri Lo to help with long, heavy periods. Aren't I too old to be taking that? Haven't started them yet.

43 is a little old to be on the pill especially if you smoke or have high blood pressure. Get a second opinion.

I'm overweight, but I don't smoke or have high blood pressure. I'm on a free program for low income people. They referred me to an OB/GYN who donated her time and services and provided a uterine biopsy at no cost and gave me four months of free samples of the Ortho Tri Lo. I need to stick with this plan.
