| Re: Tubal Ligation
I had my tubes "tied" immediately after my daughter was born. (5 1/2 years ago) From what I remember, I went through the usual pre-op procedures. (IV, anti naseau medication etc.) When I went into the op room, I was given a spinal block, because my edpidral had not worked. The spinal took effect immediately. I was given something to relax me. I remember the room was very cold and I began shaking. They covered me with extra blankets, and that is all that I remember until recovery. The way they explained it to me is that they "inflated" my belly. My tubes were cut and then "burned" on the ends. I had several stitches around my belly button. I was sore afterwards, but nothing extreme. I was able to go home and take care of my baby. I am looking now into having my tubal reversed. I have remarried and we would like another baby. A tubal, for me, was the easiest form of birth control that I had experienced. Good luck with your decision!
