Birth Control Pills Side Effects - Birth Control Message Board

Hello,
I'm 18 and just started taking birth control pills two months ago and I was curious if anyone has had any bad reactions to birth control pills? I started taking them b/c I've always had irregular periods and I couldn't stand it any longer. For the last month I've had frequent urination and extreme nausea. I can't go two hours without having to go the restroom, which makes getting a good night's sleep seeming difficult. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I have several other health problems, but I'm not sure if that's what's causing this. Or could it be that the birth control pills are causing a bad drug reaction to one of my other meds? Please reply.

Nausea is a common side effect, and many women claim that they urinate more often. To avoid the nausea, take the pill with food or at bedtime.

I've been on Ovcon-35 for 5 months. I've noticed recently that I have to urinate more when I'm taking the hormone pills.

I started getting dizzy a week after starting zovia 1/35 - I was really dizzy until I stopped taking it.

Here's a list of pills that I've been on in the past and side effects I've experienced from them (keep in mind, you may not experience the same ones, or any for that matter):

Ortho Novum 7/7/7 - severe dizziness, bleeding for a month

Estrostep - A lot of hair loss, weight gain (subsided after 5 months), depression every month during the week before my period. I didn't have this nor the hair loss before going on this pill, terrible pill, I don't recommend it.

Desogen - No sex drive at all

Lo/Ovral - depression

Ovcon 35 - 1st time taken (four months): depression, slight rash on face, bigger breasts

, and shorter periods. 2nd time taken (currently taking, five months): slight rash on face (subsided after a couple months), slightly bigger breasts, sensitivity to caffeine, slight appetite increase, slight weight gain of 5 lbs., mostly in the right places. The key word with this one is 'slight'. Great pill for the most part.
