Early and Long period - Birth Control Message Board

Hi I have been on the Patch for about a year and a half. I was supposed to get my period on friday or saturday but it came the monday before that. I might have been a day or two late putting on my third patch and had unprotected sex that week. I figured when my period came it would last for the normal 7 days then stop but I took my patch off on friday and my period is still going today is the 9th day I've had it. I'm worried that it was implantation bleeding because the day I got my period and for that whole week I've been having pregnancy symptoms (nausea, moodiness, fatigue and backache). I'm looking for any advice on whether i could be pregnant. Thanks

It sounds like breakthrough bleeding brought on by putting the patch on late. Since you're bleeding like this it's HIGHLY unlikely that you're pregnant but in the future, remember that being late with changing a patch can compromise your protection and you should use back up for seven days.
