I think I messed up. - Birth Control Message Board

I'm on the 4th pill into a new pack of Tri-Sprintec. I usually take my pill at 4pm every day. Today, I was very busy and forgot to take it until 8:30pm. I had sex at 6pm.

Now I'm completely freaking out about pregnancy (I tend to worry more than I should, maybe?). Do I have fair reason to be scared out of my mind now?

i wouldnt worry, even if you missed it by 12 hours, in the directions it says you dont need a back up. but if you missed 2 pills in a row, you would need a back up. check out the directions that came with your pills. if you cant find them, you could look online, your pill is chemically the same as ortho tricyclen.

but if its your first pack of pills EVER on this prescription, you needed to be on it for 7 days before it works. but i got the impression you've been on the pills for a while?

Honestly Greetea,

I have never [B]taken [/B] my pill the same time every night. I admit, it is better for you, but I have such a busy, crazy, life that I often take the pill at different times. And trust me, if there is anyone I have met that can get pregnant easy, it's me. I've had two pregnancies: the last one I took the morning after pill and got pregnant!

So, don't worry about getting pregant just because there's a 4 hour lapse from your usual pill-taking time.
