just started the pill..problems? - Birth Control Message Board

Okay, I started the pill on sunday, today is monday. I took it at the right time, but today i was reading through the broshure/directions packet and I saw "If vomiting or diarrhea occurs, for any reason, the pills may not work." This may be a little bit too much information, but I got diarrhea today, and I have no clue why. I tried contacting my doctor like it told me to do, but she isnt going to be in until Thursday. If anyone can help, or if anyone knows anything about that, it'd be really helpful. It's kind of making me nervous.

If diarrhea is severe, as in a lot, and lasting several days, it is possible your pill won't absorb properly. However, one episode of diarrhea will not effect the pill.

If you vomit less then an hour after taking the pill, it is possible the pill won't have been absorbed properly. In cases like that, you can either take another pill from a spare pack, provided you are no longer vomiting, or if you want to be extra careful, use back-up for seven days following the vomitting.
