Switching Birth Control Pills question? - Birth Control Message Board

Hi, I am a concerned boyfriend with a question. My girlfriend recently switched from Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo to Necon. My question is do you still have to use a backup method for the first seven days of the new pack of pills even though she did not miss a day and started her new Necon pack the same as if it was the Ortho pack? I wouldn't think you would since she is taking the same as her old pills in the same method. I mean the pill is the pill I am i right? We are both freaking out at this point regarding this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Most professionals agree that it's not necessary to abstain/use a back-up method of birth control if the new pack is started on time (when the old pack would have been started). However, in any case, there's nothing wrong with being cautious and using a back-up method for 7 days. It's only a few days.
