Hi. I have had a rough time with my period lately. For the past two months, I started early. It was more of a brown discharge for the first 4 days and then it was my normal period. This month, I should have started yesterday, but have not. I have had a little brown discharge today, but not much. I am on birth control pills, and have been for about a year and a half. I am also sexually active. I don't whats going on. It has been a little wonky in the summer months for years. Last August, I had a period that lasted all month long. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also on the pill and I've had those kinds of periods before too... ones where it's just brown discharge for a couple of days and then stops, or ones when it's brown discharge for a few days and then I get a regular period. If that's the only thing that's going on, I'd say that's perfectly normal. The pill has a way of doing that to you... and I know that my hormones tend to change over the summer as well.
