nuvaring more effective?

I was looking on {removed} last night b/c I am seriously considering switching from the pill to the nuvaring. I am starting college in 2 weeks and i KINOW i will have a problem taking the pill on time. Anyways, it said the "typical" efficiency with nuvaring is 99%, but with the pill it was 92-90somehint% which I already knew. Why does the nuvaring have a higher "typical" efficiency than the pill? Heck if this is true, I want to switch! Can anyone help me out here?

Typical use with the pill is missing a few pills here and there, thus the lowered efficiancy. The Nuva Ring is left inside you for 3 weeks at a time; there is no being "late" or "missing a pill" to worry about. Thus, "typical" use is close to "perfect" use, and is considered highly effective.

Re: nuvaring more effective?

Like GLS said, the only reason the typical use is lower with the pill is because you can forget to take pills..if pills are taken correctly at the same time every day, they are 99.9% effective, making it more effective then the nuvaring.
If you leave the nuvaring inside for 3 weeks like you're suppose to and then you take it out to get your period its 99% effective..but most women tend to take it out during sex or in the shower and some forget to put it back in, this lowers the effectiveness of the nuvaring. The nuvaring can only be out of you for 3 hours
