My doctor prescribed Ortho tri-cyclen for me, but the pharmacy gave me TriNessa. I was wondering what your experiences with it were. I'm concerned mainly with the acne treatment and maybe some other side affects. Is Trinessa as good as Ortho tri-cyclen or am i wasting my time ? I haven't started taking it yet, but just wanted to be sure before doing so.

Trinessa is a generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen. They're chemically indentical, therefore will have the same acne treating abilities. The pharmacy can't just give you "something else" other than what your doctor prescribed. All generics are approved by the Food and Drug Administration and the active ingredients must be proven to be chemically identical. The pharmacy is permitted to substitute the generic (and often times insurances will only pay for generics) as long as the doctor signs for a generic to be substituted, which s/he obviously did.
