Questions about "The Sponge" - Birth Control Message Board

Hi everyone! I am considering using the "sponge" for contraception. I have heard many good things about it. One question I have is what about the taste of it? What I mean is...my husband loves to do oral and he is concerned about the taste of it. Does anyone have any information about this?? Also, is it pretty easy to use? Any info regarding this will be very helpful to me! Thanks in advance!!

i don't think your husband would want to go down on you with the sponge. the sponge contains spermicide. i dont think the sponge is available in the US but there is something similar called VCF (this filmy stuff with spermicide). My boyfriend said it tasted awful.

hello, im also interested in the "sponge" I want to find something else that works so I can go off the pill. I actually got as far as buying a box, but I havent tried them yet (months later..) I am kind of scared to try it. {removed}

I can't say I've tasted it, but you might be better off putting it in after engaging in oral sex. Either that or have him use a dental dam so that he doesn't have to taste the spermicide.
