Been on Mircette for about 7 months:

Well, first of all, OTC does
not have the same hormones as the patch.
Ortho Evra is monophasic, which means 1 steady level of hormones every day. It releases 150mcg of progesterone (norelgestromin) and 20mcg of estradiol every day.
OTC, on the other hand, is triphasic, which means that every week has a different amount of hormones. It also has a completely different progesterone (norgestimate). OTC has the following combinations:
Week 1: 180mcg progesterone and 35mcg estradiol
Week 2: 215mcg progesterone and 35mcg estradiol
Week 3: 250mcg progesterone and 35mcg estradiol
As you see, the levels are much higher in the OTC, and as stated before, the progesterone is a different hormone.
If you'd like to try OTC, go for it, but certainly discuss it with your doctor. Since OTC has higher hormones than Mircette, there is a chance that your PMS symptoms won't be alleviated.
