Switched from Necon to Aviane - is this normal? - Birth Control Message Board

Been on Necon for years and never had a problem. Over the last six I noticed that my PMS and mood swings were getting worse and worse and that I was becoming more weepy than usual. It was suggested to me that maybe now that I am older (34) and our body chemistry changes over time that maybe the Necon was the cause of this.

After speaking with my OB/GYN she changed my pills to Aviane and reminded me that it could take up to three months to feel any effects.

After about a week of this new pill, I've noticed two changes. One is discharge which is white and thin and isn't a problem. I've always had discharge while on the pill. However, now there is an odor along with it which is something I've never experienced before. It's not necessarily a bad odor but it is very noticeable ( during sex and otherwise ) and is different from the norm for me.

Is this normal? Has anyone else every experienced this? And finally does it go away?

The discharge and smell isn't cause for alarm unless it begins to smell strongly or foul, or becomes heavy, itchy, etc. It's like that it will go away after a few cycles. However, there is no harm in checking with your gyno if you are concerned.
