Yasmin vs. ? - Birth Control Message Board

I was on Yasmin for a couple years, and because of other health reasons I went off it for a year. In July I started back on it and now I am having severe breast tenderness, all month, night sweats, and no sex drive. I talked to the nurse at my gyno office and she said I might be lacking estrogen and I should take a higher dose pill, like Ovcon. Anyone have any advice on if that would be a good one to try or if something else might be better in my situation. I never had any problems before with Yasmin..

Switching pills is trial and error. While Ovcon might be the best pill for you, it might not. Again, it's just something you need to try and see what happens.

Yasmin has 30mcg of estrogen and Ovcon has 35mcg of estrogen. It isn't a large increase, but it might be a big of enough increase to help.

I just made the switch from Yasmin to Ovcon. Ovcon has helped TREMENDOUSLY, esp. the sex drive. Ovcon is the best pill I've ever taken so far. With Yasmin, I had severe depression and prescribed anti-depressants and told to see a psychiatrist. Once I stopped Yasmin and started Ovcon, I felt happy and like my old self and never had to take the ADs or see a therapist. Ovcon has really been a lifesaver and relationship-saver for me!

That is great news! Did you have any negative side effects from the Ovcon? Any other positive ones after you switched? I am starting on the Ovcon tonight and am worried about weight gain? I have heard some things about Ovcon and weight gain. But to be honest, I have heard more about Yasmin.. I don't know, I guess we'll see how my body reacts! Thanks for the help!
