New to the patch and waiting on period - Birth Control Message Board

I recently started Ortho Evra. I was on the patch for the week that it says it takes to be affect, and then I had unprotected sex and my boyfriend pulled out. Now this past Sunday, I took off my third patch and should be getting my period. It is now Wednesday and I have not gotten my period. I have noticed that when I wipe after using the bathroom today, there is some blood. I did try to put a little toilet paper into my vagina and there was blood, but it isn't bleeding out like a normal period. What could be going on?

Sounds ok. You're experiencing spotting, which usually happens before the period actually starts. I always have small traces of blood for a few days before my period. If you're new to the patch, you need to give your body time to adjust to Ortho Evra.
