Just started The Patch and i have 2 questions, please answer! - Birth Control Message Board

I just put my very first patch on last week on wednesday when i started my period. And i am still bleeding. I usually stop bleeding on day 6, but i'm still bleeding and it doesnt seem like its stopping. Its not very much blood, i am just using a panty liner, but its still quiet a bit for being 8 days since i started my period. Is this nomal? Also i was wondering how long will it take before i notice any side affects, if any?

Yes, this is normal. Your period might be a little irregular until your body can adjust to the hormones. Within a few cycles, your periods should become shorter and more regulated.

Some women experience side effects the first day they use birth control. Other women experience side effects after a few weeks, and some women have no side effects at all.

I still need to use a panty liner, my breasts are really soar and i think i'm starting to break out

I'm so not liking this

It's not uncommon for your cycles to become irregular initially when you start any type of birth control. Within 3 monthes you will probably notice that your periods will be shorter and lighter, so it's worth it to stick it out! Hope this helps!
