Back up method, on pill? - Birth Control Message Board

I am about to begin taking ortho tri-cyclen lo (just waiting for my period). My boyfriend and I were previously using condoms. When I get on the pill I am hoping to ditch the condoms. My question is, should I make him pull out before he has an orgasm, or is it safe to let him go inside of me once I am steady on the pill? Thanks!

The pill is 99.9% effective with perfect use. Perfect use means taking the pill at the same time every day, without illness (vomiting, diarrhea), and without using other medications that may interact with the pill. If taken perfectly, pregnancy is highly unlikely, and many women do not use condoms. As for pulling out, that's up to you; statistically, it really isn't necessary, but if you'll feel more comfortable, do so.

so I am not likly to get pregnant if I don't make him pull out.....I forgot to ask when I got the pills...Thank you!

The withdrawal method when used alone (pull out method), is 60-70% effective against pregnancy. It works as an extra saftey thing when on the pill, at least for me.

You can let him *** in you...if you want..its still 99.9% effective against pregnancy but id feel safer if he didnt
