missed pill - Birth Control Message Board

I don't miss my pills very often--but I had a very nasty stomach virus a few months back and there were some nights where i was too sick to take a pill, so I waited. A couple of those times, I took one, and then a few hours later, took my usual one. I noticed that after doing this, I got sick a while after taking it--like, 6-7 hours later. Not majorly sick, but enough to make me throw up, then I felt better.

The past 2 weeks, I've been on antibiotics for strep throat. Twice, between remembering 4 antibiotic pills plus the bc, I missed my regular time. The first, I took it the following morning (I usually take my pills around 11:30pm). I was fine. Last night, I didn't realize I missed it til about 8:30, then I took my usual one at 11:30. Again, woke up shortly after 6am and got sick.

Is this normal? That I would get sick when taking 2 pills close to each other? And that I would get sick so long after taking them? Also, after those 6 hours, has the pill been absorbed? I've been using backup through all this anyway, because of the antibiotics and all. But I'm curious if I should be concerned (health-wise) at all.

I'm not sure if it's all normal, but read your pill's insert or find the information online.

I'm going through a nasty flu and can't keep anything down either so for the next week or so I plan on using a backup method. I keep taking the pill but I vomited about 2 hours after I did, it's too close to call so I'm going to wait a week until after I'm healthy and keeping everything down to not use a backup method.

On top of the face that you're not keeping down the pill you're also on antibiotics which some say weakens the pill as well. My advice is use a backup method.
