The pill and spider veins

Ok, I am convinced the pill causes spider veins. Since using the pill I have had a lot more appear on my legs, and on my stomach where my ribs are. What can I do??? And what is the best method to get rid of them??

Thank you!

Re: The pill and spider veins

Wow, me too!!! Although I'm not sure that the pill is the exact cause, but if you've noticed it too, then maybe it is! Mine are pretty bad but I take after my aunt in like everything and she has a lot of spider veins, and I figured I would get them but not when I'm 22! I have one behind my knee that almost looks like a veracose vein because it seems to pop out. You think it could be a side effect of the pill?

WOW! thats amazing that you guys think so too, b/c i've also noticed more spider veins on my legs and thought the pill could be the cause of it. my mom has them real bad too, but i'm also 22 and didn't think they would appear this soon. i know the pill causes DVT's so it may be the cause of spider veins as well. HMM.. thats something to wonder about..

Re: The pill and spider veins

excess estrogen causes blood vessels to dilate, which then can lead to the appearance of spider veins. i have them too.. im 24, been on birth control since i was 16 and i started noticing them after using nuvaring for a year. i switched and they're not as bad, but are definitely still there =(

Yes!! Thank God I'm not the only one! I'm pregnant now with my first child--by choice---not by failure of BC. ) I never had spider veins until I started birth control---particularly---Nuvaring and I only used the ring for about 6 months. Not only did I get spider veins, but I also had achey crampy upper thighs. NOT fun! Needless to say, I got off BC all in all. Nothing was working for me. Many years before Nuvaring, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen---it made me sick and very bloated---but I didn't get spider veins. My mom doesn't even have spider veins!!! I'm only 28! Yikes!!!

Now after my baby is boirn in June---I want to get back on BC, but I'm not sure what to take?!? UGhhh!

As far as getting rid of them---I haven't found a solution yet.
