Ovulation on birth control? - Birth Control Message Board

Do you still ovulate while on bcps? I was just wondering. I'm taking Loestrin 24 which is a combined pill and I think my body is taking awhile to get used to it. I'm two packs in and half way thru my 2nd pack I started cramping and had like a light period. Is this normal?

Studies have shown women ovulate approximately 10% of the time while on the pill. That is where the other two mechanisms come into play: cervical mucus is thickened and endometrium is thinned so that if an egg is fertilized it can't implant.

Stick with it a couple more months. I think you will be just fine.
