Sudden break out on OTC LO! - Birth Control Message Board

As long as ive been on my pill, it has improved my skin. But this month, BAM i have had some pimples, and red blotchy spots on my face like i use to get. This happen all of sudden! Its a shame too because i was enjoying my clear face!
Does anyone have any explanations for this? Do you think it will go back to normal and this was just a odd phase? Ive also been having spotting this whole month of this pill pack too, could that have anything to do with it? Maybe my hormones are outta wack this month!?!?

The first bcp I was on was otc lo. For the first couple of months my face was pretty normal and I didn't notice any difference, then on about my fourth pack my face started breaking out really bad. I decided to stick with it to see if it would go back the way it was before, but by the seventh month I had to quit and try another pill.

Since then I have been on loestrin and demulen and they both have kept my face breaking out. The only time I dont break out is my week off the pill, then like clockwork the day after I start my new pack I get multiple breakouts on my face. It has been like this for the past year!

In two weeks I am going to try a new pill, but I am unsure which I should try. I have heard several stories from people who have been on otc lo and it caused them to break out, but then they started using regular strength otc and it cleared up their face. Have you tried regular otc? And how long have you been on the Lo version?

If I were you I would stick with it at least through one more pack to see if your hormones are just out of wack this month, but if it continues to make you break out durring your next pack then I would suggest trying something else.

Ive almost been on it a year! (July=Year) So my face has been clear for a while now..this is the first month it's been bad again! Never tried regular strength OTC but i have a gyno appt on July 24th to get a new year supply of pills, so i was thinking about getting the regular OTC this time.
