I think I started my pill the wrong day! - Birth Control Message Board

I was recently started on ortho tri-cyclen lo, and I've never used a pill before, the doctor who started me on them told me to start on a Sunday, but she did not mention the first Sunday after my latest period. However, about a month ago I suffered a miscarriage, so the date of when my period would have begun is a bit sketchy, but now I'm worried that I'm not getting the right use out of the pill. I'm on day 8, and spotting a little. Do I need to start a new pack?

Usually, the instructions say to start on the first Sunday after your period, although I've heard people say their doctors have told them they can start whenever they want in their cycle. (Sounds odd to me, but whatever.) Anyway, I would just continue taking the pills you've started. I don't think there's anything to be gained by stopping and starting a new pack.
