I have been on ortho tricyclen lo for several years. I think it has been
giving me more varicose veins on my legs and I am getting really tired of being on this pill. What side effects have you had if you've taken this pill?

I have made an appt. with my Dr. to ask about other birth control options. Right now I'm thinking of just condoms until my DH decides to go get the vasectomy.

How is the mini pill different from the regular pills? Are the side effects the same?

I used Ortho-Tricyclen Lo, and I was a little nautious during the first cycle of pills only. I also had some noticeable breast growth and I gained ten pounds. In case you're wondering, varicose veins come about because of hormonal changes, and birth control pills increase the likelihood you'll develop varicose veins, or develop more of them.

As far as other birth control options, have you considered an IUD? They have as high of a success rate as sterilization.
