BCP and bleeding - Birth Control Message Board

Hi all, just a question from a newbie.
I have been using monofemme BCP for quite some time with no problem.
ANyway due to very painful periods all my life my Dr finally suggested taking the pill without a break (except maybe every 4 months) thus not having a period.
Anyhow first 2 months all is fine now I am 3/4 of the way through my 3rd month and I have started spotting now for 5 days, first 4 days just brownish stuff, today bright red and bleeding more.
My Dr didn't say what to do if this happens and so I am not sure if this is normal or should I go see my Dr???

ANy ideas?

I would carry on and have a break at the end of this pack. It's probably because your endometrium (womb lining) has been building up and has now decided it is time to shed it's load. It may be better to have 4 periods per year. I'm not familiar with your pill so i would check with your Practice Nurse or Dr.

This pill is Ethinyloestradiol and Levonorgestrel, if that helps?
Would my womb lining already have built up that much after only 2 1/2 months?????

Skipping 4 periods is really a lot. I personally can't go more than 6 weeks without a period because it will start on its own. Typically you start your period because of a change in horomone levels, but sometimes it starts because the lining is so built up that gravity starts your period. It is definately possible that that would happen after 2 1/2 months. As mayam said, I would finish the active pills in this pack and take a break, and then I probably would only try and go two months between taking a break in the future. Talk to your dr and see if another pill might possibly work better for you to use to skip so many periods in a row.
